PROMOTING DONOR AWARENESS
The Associates and Nurses Endorsing Transplantation (ANET)
promotes organ and tissue donation and transplantation, by encouraging donor registration, and providing pertinent education to increase awareness in both the healthcare arena and the community at large. It is a national non-profit organization based in Cocoa Beach, Florida. ANET has made tremendous strides in advancing the involvement of nurses, other individuals and organizations in the organ and tissue donation and transplantation
process.

Despite the ever-increasing need for organs and tissues for transplantation in the United States, the availability of donors has not risen substantially. Nurses, nursing administrators, organ and tissue procurement coordinators, and other health care workers as well as members of the community can band together to help to improve this situation. We all can be vital links in the donor chain.
ANET has chapters in several states, but we are always looking to expand. We would like to encourage you to start an ANET Chapter in your area. We have found that a substantial increase in the donation of organs and tissues has occurred in areas where ANET Chapters have been established.
The benefits to ANET members are numerous. Once a year we hold a National Meeting and Conference so our members from various chapters can be updated on the most current trends in donation and transplantation while having the chance to network with others that share a common interest. All ANET members receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, which provides reports on the activities of local chapters, educational editorials, and recent developments in the organ and tissue donation and transplantation areas.
National members each receive an ANET membership pin and a discount to the National Meeting and Conference. We also sponsor a Scholarship Fund that offers financial assistance to attend these National Conferences.
